How do I choose the shredder that will suit me? First you must decide on the amount of Shredding you need to do. Next what capacity do you require? Finally, the type of shredding you need. Do you need to Strip-Cut? Destroyit strip-cut machines shred documents into narrow, unreadable strips that can also be used as packing material as shown in this picture. Made in a variety of sizes, there is a Destroyit shredder made for you. There are some that fit next to your desk, larger ones that are perfect next to the copiers or fax machines to be used by many. And still others made to handle the high-volume users such as accounting and records departments. Feed opening width is an important consideration. This part of the shredder is were the paper enters. The width varies and increases as model numbers increase. They range from eight (8") inches to eighten (18") inches. There are several reasons why this is important. You must choose the shredder width based on the size of documents you will be shredding. Standard paper is 8-1/2 x 11 and will easily fit in any Destroyit shredders. If you plan to shred continuous form documents wider than 12 inches, it would be best to focus on one of the Higher Volume Shredders that offer a 16 inch feed opening. This will allow you to shred continuously without constant watch. Continuous forms will jam if you have a small feed opening.
